•Provide assistance to needy families so children may be cared for in their homes or homes of relatives
•End dependence of needy parents on government benefits by promoting job preparation, work and marriage
•Prevent and reduce the incidence of out-of-wedlock pregnancies and establish annual numerical goals for preventing and reducing the incidence of these pregnancies
•Encourage the formation and maintenance of two parent families

General Program Requirements
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a resident of Connecticut, either pregnant or responsible for a child under 19 years of age, a US national, citizen, legal alien, or permanent resident, have low or very low income, and be either under-employed (working for very low wages), unemployed or about to become unemployed.
